For a wedding or other large event, the accommodations are able to reach the highest levels of class.
We stayed two days for a wedding. An amazing estate with rich history. As you approach the grounds, and enter the buildings, you feel the history is authentic. All rooms are well appointed, and the gathering areas are comfortable and cozy.
The rooms while appointed with antiques are very comfortable. In the morning, coffee is served on every floor along with snacks. We were a large group and never felt crowded. Breakfast served on the back patio was very comfortable.
One of our favorite B&B's. Very large peaceful rooms. There are over 34 acres with this property. This property was owned by George Washington's great grandfather. It is about 45 minutes from Colonial Williamsburg. Breakfast is served on the large sun porch overlooking the back acreage by the river.
Simply one of the most beautiful wedding venues I've ever seen. A beautiful setting for a lovely event. And a few rooms are pet friendly which us AWESOME!
The grounds are well maintained and still keep a more rustic feel. The view from the boathouse and the dock is beautiful, and there is little light pollution at night for star-gazing. Many of the outdoor experiences were helped of course by late October temperatures in the 50's - 70's, however, if you are a nature lover, you can enjoy long walks or strolls on the property.
All in all, a weekend we will not forget.
The staff is friendly, attentive, and helpful.
Quiet and peaceful, which is what I needed. Beautiful setting with grounds to walk around and reflect. We have seen all the rooms but have only stayed, twice, in the George Washington suite. Very comfortable bed, large jetted tub, private entrance, small frig, gas fireplace, and comfortable chairs for relaxing with a good book. It was a perfect birthday getaway. Wine, cheese and crackers in the evening and coffee waiting for us in the morning! Perfect! Troy and Theresa, as well as George and Martha (the dogs) were very welcoming!
Wonderful down home hospitality in an intimate, quiet setting in a mansion on 535 acres in Gloucester, VA. Established in 1642 by Augustine Warner, George Washington's great-great grandfather. Nice conversation with owner Troy and guests while enjoying wine and small plates in sitting room. The stars are beautiful out here. Staying in Captain's Quarters...entire west wing, 2 stories with sitting, dining. With huge colonial cooking fireplaces, 2 bedrooms. Descendants include Meriweather Lewis and Robert E Lee.. So much history!!!
